On the occasion of Romanian President Traian Basescu’s visit to the United States, the U.S. Senate passed S.Res.359 by unanimous consent. S.Res.359, introduced by Senator Mary Landrieu, is a resolution concerning the Government of Romania’s ban on intercountry adoptions and the welfare of orphaned and abandoned children in Romania.
S.Res.359 is the companion measure to Representative Chris Smith’s resolution, H.Res.578, which was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives in April.
